Sofia
Garden Designer & Co-founder
She's been designing residential gardens in the Bay Area for years and still gets excited about a good native planting plan. Her obsession is finding the right plant for a tricky spot — the dry shade under an oak, the windy west-facing corner — instead of forcing something that won't make it. She started taking horticulture courses at Merritt College to sharpen what she already knew from years in the field.
Maren
Head of Maintenance & Co-founder
She runs all the ongoing care work and builds every maintenance plan from scratch — no templates. She has a horticulture background and a strong opinion about soil health. She'll tell you what's wrong with your garden before you even ask. Grew up in Berkeley and has been working in Bay Area gardens since 2013.
Virginia
Team Leader & Lead Gardener
A California native who grew up in the mountains of Costa Rica, Virginia has been a lover of nature her whole life. She has worked as a gardener and farmer in many countries and studied medicinal herbs at the Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine in Portland. She loves creating a balance of wild yet neat gardens that promote native plants and edibles.

A Bay Area native beginning her horticulture journey with us. Before joining, she completed a permaculture course focused on designing sustainable and regenerative gardens. She lets nothing go to waste — passionate about Mother Earth and a lover of all living organisms. She has a natural eye for potted arrangements and aesthetically pleasing plant design.

Gardener
Grew up in the English countryside, where she developed her deep love of gardening in her parents' fruit, vegetable, and flower garden. She is trained in Occupational Therapy and has used gardening as a therapeutic medium. She studied permaculture at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center and manages a mixed fruit and nut orchard in Sonoma County.

A California native whose love of gardening was passed down from her grandparents, who both worked in the fields and tended their own gardens. She holds a Bachelor's in Anthropology from SFSU and is pursuing her Associates in Landscape Architecture at Merritt College. Particularly interested in habitat gardens for butterflies, bees, and birds.

How we actually work
We stay small on purpose
We've turned down growth opportunities that would've meant sending strangers to our clients' homes. That's not something we're willing to do. Small means we know every garden we're responsible for.
Bay Area plants for Bay Area conditions
We don't import ideas from wetter climates. We work with California natives and drought-adapted plants that actually thrive here — through summer dry spells, coastal fog, and years-long droughts.
We'll be honest with you
If a plant won't work in your space, we'll tell you. If your soil needs work before anything else happens, we'll say so. We'd rather give you the truth than take your money for something that won't last.
